Great store to shop at when you don't want to go to the big box grocery store. Staff very friendly and accommodating - always willing to help. Also love all the things they do for the St. James community!
-They still use plastic bags, and offer paper bags, awesome.
-If you ask an employee for help, they don’t just tell you which aisle they walk you directly there, awesome.
-Amazing in-house deli/bakery, great deals always.
-For how small of a store it is, they employ a lot of people, checking out is very quick and efficient. If it gets busy they instantly get more people running cash registers, that’s rare to see in any big grocery store.
Kind, helpful staff, great prices and variety. My go-to grocery store, I seriously ONLY shop at FoodFare and I will stand by it that it’s the best grocery store chain in Winnipeg period.
My local grocer that I love shopping at! Sometimes I wish they had a wider variety but It’s always where I go for meat/produce and they’re prices are pretty good too
Nice mellow store. Friendly staff. Great meat counter.
I very much like this Food Fare location, and have been shopping here for years.
This is more of a suggestion than an outright complaint as it happens very infrequently.
I know it takes extra time to properly shave deli meat, but to spend 20$ on sandwich meat and then get home to see that it is mostly sliced vs shaved is not great.
Again, I do get that it is a pain, but it would be appreciated to have things cut as requested.

This place is a local favorite. Really enjoy the options. It’s the right size where you find everything you need easily. All the employees have been here for a long time. It’s got a great community feel. I usually don’t do my main shop here since I’m usually picking my kids up from school and walking home. I frequently get the breads and veggies and protein here. Great place to buy deli meat and hotdogs too. Also occasionally pick up clay over Biranyi or the samosas.
Their meat dept is awesome! I would definitely recommend you buy your meat from here. The staff is very friendly and helpful also. Great little gem!
Great little privately owned grocery store. The meat is excellent and reasonably priced. I shop here frequently. The staff are friendly and accommodating! If you haven 't been to one of their stores you are missing out.
We really like supporting local and often come here for good deals. However the last visit was a little disappointing as we ordered 7 steaks for a dinner party and paid for 7 but found out we only got 6. By the time we found out we were already 2.5 hours from Winnipeg at the cottage, so we hoped we could get this resolved during our next visit, however unfortunately the grocery store said there was nothing they could do for us as we didn’t have the receipt and the photo does not tell them more information. Cashiers and staff are friendly. Next time hopefully it does not happen again.
Their bunk freezer on the right, front half product is almost always never frozen. Even after letting staff know the problem persists. Frozen juices are thawed and other products feel warm to the touch. Stay away from frozen products.

Great place as a convenience store. All you need to buy you can find here. I even bought phyllo pastry!
Don’t buy the
Meat or milk they both are already rotten
The staff are nice.friendly helpful people and I met the manager today and had a quick chat, stand up human. Thanks man.
I go for their meat department best T-bones and Porter houses and not to mention cross rib, roast all outstanding
Good enough but doesn't cover most items due to it size.

Time to time they still have got an amazing deals on some groceries. Well, you know what's going on with grocery prices these days... :(
Sale items are rung up at regular prices at the check out. Be aware of your total before you pay. It's a common occurrence. Also, be aware common staples are marked up 20 to 30 % above market value. Coffee or butter for example. I want to support local grocery stores but their business practices are questionable.
Not only do they abuse people they suspect of shoplifting.
But the human waste that owns this place will lie to the government in order to avoid pay in lieu. Low quality person.
EDIT: only took a year and a few days but this low class employer finally paid me. Clearly someone should be educated in Canadian Values.
Great store! I come here often! Good prices on meat and produce. The staff are always lovely! Will definitely keep coming back!
Some things are way overpriced. It's nicer since the renovations, however avoid getting milk from the fridges in the back. Last time I went, 1 carton was punctured and would leak when touched, and twice I got milk there it went sour days before the best before date, my guess? Fridge isn't cold enough and staff doesn't care about how the food is handled or doesn't make sure its good quality when putting it on the shelves

Door crasher specials are always great as is the meat section. Small store so easy to shop in and you don’t have to self checkout or bag ! Decent amount of local products too
Variety and atmosphere, but bad prices.
It's a good store and the service seems good but the prices can gut you upwards of 20 dollars for 4 items, so pay attention to the expiration dates and prices before you buy.
Regardless, it's still a decent store regardless of the raised prices.
The staff here are very friendly. I recently visited this store for Soup bones. It was a busy Saturday afternoon. I was served in a very timely manner, considering how busy they were.
I’m so glad I came here because they had exactly what I was looking for.
I only been here a few times over the years. Each time has been a pleasant experience.
This store’s location is not convenient for me, but I’m gonna make an effort to come here more often.
This a wonderful little family run grocery store.
For a tiny little grocery store they for sure pack a lot of choice and value for the customer. I do not buy my meat anywhere else. It's fresh, not prepackaged and weighed down with water to increase the price.
SPOILED MEAT? I was shocked too. Been shopping here for a decade and this is the second time in 6 months I bought meat that had large smelly brown areas on the UNDERSIDE of the meat. Yesterday it happened with pork bought that day, and date stamped the day before. Took it back and got a refund with a very perfunctionary "sorry" as the meat woman was walking away. VERY unimpressive. Last time it was a beef steak that I just threw out. Used to be well run meat department but now...not at all sure. Need to sharpen their hygiene training. Who wants spoiled meat?
