Rooms were covered in mold and walls were rotting away. Window curtains were very moldy as well as all around them. Shower curtains are too short and stained. The family pool was way over chlorinated and it was very difficult to breathe. Me and my whole family had skin reactions. All of the hot tubs were down. And the sauna kept fogging up making it very difficult to breathe and see. The service was okay and the food was good. Overall beautiful place but very run down and needs some serious maintenance. The adult pool was the only part that we didn’t have any issues with. Loved the indoor/outdoor concept. There was also no spa openings the whole weekend, making our stay very disappointing. Was a nice experience but won’t be returning. Needs to be renovated.
This once gem of a resort is a mess. How they still have people booking is a mystery to me. 10 years ago, this was a great staycation with golf. We used to go multiple times per year, and our most recent visit will be our last.
The hotel today is truly in shambles. Pool and tubs often closed without notice. Items on menu unavailable, and the worst service I've ever experienced.
As just a highlight here is our last trip: Shower plugged with hair and not draining, tv broken, toilet paper roll broken, bed stained, wallpaper peeling, hot tub closed and entire area covered in algae. Tried to call the front desk for early check in, no one picked up the phone during 3 calls. When we asked if someone could unclog our tub, no one showed up...we aren't picky people, but cmon.
Don't trust the odd 3-5 star review, this place is a mess. Go to thermea and book a hotel in the city, it'll be a much better use of your time and money. Or go to Elkhorn in Clear Lake. It's a bit more money, but well maintained.
If anyone in management reads this, please try to do something, this place is being run into the ground.
Despite the criticisms below, I did really like this hotel and would stay there again.
Rooms are large with plenty of storage for gear, snacks and food, and clothing.
Water in shower was only warm, not hot enough for a decent shower.
Our shower only had shampoo and an empty conditioner bottle while our friends all had full bottles of both.
They either need more Dollys for transporting luggage or a better system at retrieving them. We waiting over a half hour before front desk staff went looking for a dolly for us. We were not alone in this as this also happened to others when we were leaving.
Floor in adult pool was filthy. Towels came away very dirty when we dried our feet.
Restaurant’s dinner menu is a bit too trendy for us. Lots of sauces or styles we don’t recognize at all. Some more traditional North American options would be appreciated. Breakfasts are very good though.
Really disappointing experience here. We rented a king suite for the long weekend, when we arrived the room was far smaller than expected for a suite. There were several items that were filthy, like the mattress, the phone (which didn't work) the floor turned the bottoms of our socks black and the bathtub didn't work, only the showerhead.
We ended up leaving early because we were staying with our kids and they are too young to shower and wouldn't have been able to bathe all weekend. Contacted the front desk who offered to have maintenance come by at 9pm which was way too late. Was then offered a 30$ credit to Seagulls which we declined because get real. The issues far exceeded that.
The pool was also over-chlorinated making it hard to breathe and irritating to the eyes and skin in the water slide area.
The only positives were the restaurant food is very good although expensive and not at all kid friendly for lunch and supper, as well as the spa was really nice. The front desk staff are also nice and tried their best to be helpful but it took a phone conversation to have any meaningful resolution to the problems with our stay.
Unfortunately we would never stay here again, and based on our experience wouldn't recommend others to either.
Beautiful location and prime access to outdoor winter activities. As this was time of year for my visit.
Room was delayed for being ready. Was not completely clean. Gap in wall with the heater, so had to constantly run to keep the room warm.
Half the lights in the room didn't work. Worst of all I think..no exhaust fan in bathroom.
Pool was decent but no hot tub or sauna. Hot tub was out of service.
Food and service, not the best to be honest. Also long walk to rooms, had to wait almost 1 hour to get a baggage cart..
All in all, not very impressed. Especially for the price. Oh and make sure to book ahead for spa as generally fully booked. Not sure I would return based on price...
