Mariaggi’s Theme Suite Hotel and Spa is a truly unique place in Winnipeg and definitely one-of-a-kind , standing out from all other hotels here.
This hotel, shrouded in mystery, special charm, and atmosphere, is a hidden gem in the middle of the busy city.
It offers an escape from the hustle and bustle into the eternal bliss of Nirvana.
It’s got something that you won’t find anywhere else.
Whether you’re looking to relax or rejuvenate, this place is the perfect spot.
The staff are amazing and they go above and beyond to make sure you have a memorable, unforgettable stay.
Shout-out to all of you amazing people who work hard to give your guests a second-to-none experience !
My huge respect to the manager/ owner of this place who built such a team of those exceptional individuals and made the hotel a second-to-none place!
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great experience.
**** These all so much resonate with Pablo Picasso’s words :
“The meaning of life is to find your gift.
The purpose of life is to give it away.”

*Update!*
With an little more to add to the experience, I had to edit. We ordered food for the room for us and hubby's brother and his fiancé. The food was DELICIOUS. The salads were so fresh and tasty, the pastas were yummy and flavourful and the chicken Parm and veal scallopini with potatoes and veg were to die for. I have zero complaints about this hotel and the service. I have never met anyone so willing to do everything possible to make your stay perfect! I will recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone! Amazing people and an incredible experience all around!
Part 1
Oh my gosh! Hubby and I have been looking at this place to try for a while and this week we had to run to the city to bring our car to the dealership to be fixed. On the way, hubby called the hotel and mentioned that I had been looking sth the Hawaii suite. We were told it was booked up but they could show us around and do something really special for us. We were NOT disappointed. It was a little tiny bit tough to find at first. But not too difficult where we got lost, it's just an older part of the city and construction and all that. The walk up the stairs to the front desk was charming with all the photos and decor. The front desk attendant (Jason?) very nice and helpful especially after the slight confusion of what room we were getting. We got something special indeed! Upgraded to their "penthouse" suite (the Bali room) and oh my WORD! stunned was not the word. This room is GORGEOUS. we also got a discount for our stay and we cannot thank you enough! There are a few minor little construction things (as comes with older buildings I'm sure) but definitely clean and well maintained and extremely well staged and decorated. We are SO pleased and very happy with our stay (so far). Parking is a bit different with only one key fob for the parking garage but not super inconvenient as it's close to the hotel. As an expectant mother with heightened emotions right now, I cannot express how happy I am with this unique and quirky but friendly environment. My mind is blown with this spacious and gorgeous room!
My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary at Mariaggi’s, and we had a wonderful time! We stayed in the Egypt room, which exceeded our expectations with its spacious layout and immaculate cleanliness. The room was beautifully maintained, and we thoroughly enjoyed the luxurious amenities, including the steam shower, sauna, and jacuzzi.
While our overall experience was fantastic, there were a couple of minor inconveniences. The ice machine was out of order, and the property didn’t have champagne buckets for ice, so we improvised with a reusable bag to get ice from the staff fridge—an amusing workaround, in hindsight! Additionally, for those planning to watch live sports, it’s worth noting that the rooms are equipped with smart TVs, which meant my husband couldn’t stream his football game—a small issue, but worth mentioning.
Overall, we had a great stay and are already looking forward to returning in the future. Mariaggi’s provided an excellent setting for a memorable anniversary celebration!
We recently stayed in the Egypt room, for the price we paid for the two nights we were there we were very excited and couldn’t wait for our get away. We were very disappointed once we got to the hotel. Parking was a nightmare, with an oversized truck there weren’t many options. We paid $35.00 for parking and ended up having to pay for parking anyway!! We were lead into the hotel through the back, there were bags of garbage in the hallway it was explained the staff hadn’t disposed of it yet, the garbage remained our entire stay. As there is no elevator in the hotel we walked up two flights of stairs. The building is old so we expected a few of the things we saw. Once we got up to our room, we immediately noticed a smell, best described as musty. We were shown how to operate the sauna, hot tub and steam shower. The shower door was broken and kept popping off, needing to be fixed every time the door was opened or closed. The fitted sheet didn’t fit the bed and kept coming off, the mattress cover underneath was stained in multiple places. The towels were nice and thick, but stunk of a very strong musty odour. There was no tv and the “internet” kept buffering so you couldn’t watch an entire movie. More than once in the two days we stayed there we tried to go to the front desk and never saw one person in or around the front desk. We were told this is the nicest hotel in Winnipeg, I will never stay in this hotel nor would I ever recommend it to any of my friends.
Let me start with, reviews are where I always navigate to when considering a hotel that I have never been to. It honestly breaks my heart to see any with negative feedback! I am hoping this review will push you over the fence to book it!
Here is our experience:
Coming from North Dakota, in the United States, my wife and I attempted to come up for a visit in January but were stuck with a blizzard just south of the border and had to reschedule. The owners were extremely understanding and wanted us to be safe, so they happily offered for us to come back whenever we could make it without any fees.
Finally, this past weekend (late March), we made it up to Winnipeg! Don and his family were more than welcoming, even verifying early in the day that we were going to be able to make it and hoped we could be there early to spend even more time in our wonderful room. Once we arrived, around 930pm, there was no parking available since this hotel is downtown and it was a Friday night, so I had to find somewhere to park quick and go check in. One note is that when you get into the building, there are quite a bit of stairs.. this is an old building and downtown, you can’t particularly expect handicap accessible compliance in a building this old and unique. Just keep that in mind. On top of that, parking can’t be responsibility of the owners, they can’t control when there is or isn’t space on the road.. but what they do offer is a heated and secured garage just a block away. This was great! Keep in mind that they use a shared fob so you have to get it and bring it back each time. We didn't leave often so that wasn’t a big deal.
We stayed in the Caribbean room, it was up another flight of stairs, again this wasn't a surprise and not a big issue for us. The room itself was amazing. They light many candles all over the room on your initial walk thru, and show you how to operate everything. The bathtub, sauna, and shower/steam combo were beyond expectations. The bed was extremely clean and comfortable! Above and beyond a standard hotel room! Our favorite part is that this is a family owned hotel and it is unique. Don't expect a standard experience! There was a previous review about room security, as the door doesn’t have a deadbolt or a latch. If you feel that you need extra security, wedge the pool table stool in the door knob.. think outside the box :). A previous review also mentioned staff attire, the staff all wore normal and clean clothing. They didn’t have a specific uniform, but why do they need to? It is family owned and more laid back this way versus so formal.
The second night, we had a pasta style dinner in our room and it was fantastic! We would highly recommend one night of dinner so you can enjoy a long afternoon and night without having to leave at all.
All-in-all, fantastic place to stay and we can’t wait to come back again. Thank you, Don and family, for your hospitality!
