We attended the Folklorama at the Portuguese Pavilion and we both had a wonderful time. The food was good and the entertainment was great. On the lower level there was a Cultural display and history of Portugal and its people. We were treated like royalty as we were VIP guests of Barry and Violet miller, Adult Ambassadors for the Irish Pavilion. We had a wonderful time...check it out!!
Please think carefully before booking your event at this venue.
I’ll keep this brief, though I could easily write a novel on how frustrating this experience has been. It took me over three months to secure a date with this hall. I began my inquiries in January 2023 for an event in October 2024. If it hadn’t been for my fiancé’s strong preference for this location, I would have explored other options almost immediately after trying to get in contact with the hall.
Thanks to my soon-to-be sister-in-law, we were able to secure a date in May 2023. The scheduler informed us that only one date remained in October, so we booked it, despite it being the furthest from Halloween, which was our desired theme. After that, communication ceased. We received no confirmation, no deposit request, and no information about the rental cost—nothing at all.
Fast forward to August 2024: we had been trying to reach the venue for a month without success.
By September 2024, just one month before our event, we were fully prepared on our end—tickets printed and sold, liquor permit secured, and orders placed—yet we still had no information from the hall. Finally, we received a call from the manager, who expressed uncertainty about our plans. He claimed they hadn’t heard from us, despite our numerous attempts to contact them. He also mentioned that they had obtained our number through a mutual friend who had joined our Facebook page supporting the event.
During this call, he provided the contract and requested a deposit, saying, "like we do for everyone"—a laughable statement, given our experience. To add insult to injury, we were told we needed to hire security, which was an unexpected expense. We also planned to serve a substantial amount of food, but it was never communicated that we wouldn't have full access to the kitchen; we were limited to just one warmer.
To wrap up, this venue is significantly overpriced for what they offer. There are better options available—venues that provide nearly everything (aside from alcohol) at a much more reasonable rate and genuinely appreciate the opportunity to host your event.
The one and only positive thing I can say about our experience would be the bartenders, they were amazing. Paul specifically, top notch.
As a wheelchair user , it was nice to see an exterior ramp along the outside wall to enter this facility. Steep but manageable with the help of others . Once inside , the facility had accessible restrooms and main floor. Basement was not accessible but I'm not sure what goes on down there . 🤔 Everything else was great
