We came to St. James location on Sunday at 10am. Unfortunately it wasn't the best timing. Poor stock. Not helpful or friendly staff. I was unable to get anything I planned to buy. Very disappointed.
Update:
I emailed their customer services as suggested. I was told to call the store re: availability before heading to the store. But I was in the area, so I stopped by...there was only 1 box of sad mangoes available.
St james location deli workers do not have a hot clue how much a pound is and when you ask for shaved meat it is thicker then thick! Train your useless employees please and open a damn till! If I could give your deli 0 stars I would!
Good grocery store, however there needs to be more quality control over the hot food (wedges, onion rings etc) they're usually a hit or a miss, sometimes they're rock solid and my dad who is older can barely eat them because of his teeth. I'm young and yet it feels like my teeth are gonna break. Obviously they're gonna be crispy but not as hard as a rock. I hope something changes there, Safeway has soft wedges and rarely are they hard, save on foods is the other way around.
Overall, everything else is great.
I online shop here a lot and the shoppers need to pay more attention. I’ve received expired product and often not good produce. Every time I’ve called the store about it, the manager (Jake) has made it right, I just wish the e comm shoppers would pay better attention to the notes in the online orders. Shopping in store I find is very good but I have seen some expired product on shelves and a lot of stuff out of stock.
Jake is an awesome store manager. The St Janes store has greatly improved and he always makes sure the customer is happy!
I just spent 10 minutes waiting at their prepared food section for somebody to actually come help me. I went over to their service desk to ask if anybody can come help me and they just looked at me blank and said nothing I didn't get to have my dinner before I went to work because I had to leave the store. Horrible horrible. Horrible customer service will not go back ever again!!!
One of the best grocery stores in the city. I wish the Kildonan Save on has produce as nice and fresh as this. Always great produce here and best selection. It's a bit more pricey than some other grocery stores but the quality makes up that difference.
Never had issues in the past until today, Came to the store around 4pm Saturday afternoon to the hot foods dept wasn’t busy at that stand, wanted to buy chicken strips and wedges and the lady working there was saying “you see this, this is what’s left and it’s all hard” (all defensive and cutting me off) so I said this is what I want and she goes “you could spice it up with other choices” like I understand it wasn’t the best quality but doesn’t mean be rude and disrespectful with that tone. Which questions me why did you have to be defensive and sarcastic, shows how true her integrity for treating customers. Other than the negative encounter, the cashier who served me was friendly.
I enjoy shopping at Save on Foods in Northgate Shopping Centre because of their extensive range of international foods. There’s ample parking space, which is a huge plus. Additionally, they offer a wide selection of delicious cakes at reasonable prices.
The international foods selection in this store is amazing, best I've seen. The overall selection is great, too, as is the bright, clean, spacious layout. I don't shop here often due to the distance, but when I make the trip, it's because they likely carry something I haven't been able to find elsewhere. Prices are nothing special - I regularly see items priced at twice what Superstore charges. Also, you really need their "More Rewards" card (or the stores app) to shop here, otherwise the prices for many products are even worse.
Feb 18 2024 at 930-940 AM. The lady working at till should be given job somewhere else is in the store or maybe be in security department. I called store manager hopefully he will take care of it.
Ok one more thing if someone in coming days give this lady accommodation that will be fake or someone from hers known.
Otherwise store is great very good quality of food or maybe the best in Winnipeg.
But this lady is repelling and embarrassing customer s
Great location and very bright and clean to shop in. Great deals on essentials. Picked up some snacks for the team Canada game recently.
Italian job pizza - fresh from save on foods brand.
Wings - salt and pepper western family
Save on foods is the neighbourhood grocery store located in the Bridgewater Forest area of Winnipeg. It’s an absolutely great place to shop. The staff is friendly, there’s plenty of parking and the selection of all things one would need is varied and very fresh. They have a great deli which offer meals to go, including chicken wings, pizza, slices, and sandwiches. They have a wing bar with a variety of chicken wings, meatballs, potato wedges, etc. The produce is well stocked and very fresh. The bakery has an assortment of pastries, other baked goods. The meat section and deli offer sliced meat – beef, chicken, seafood, etc. The rest of the store is just very nice overall. Very clean, bright and great ambience. There is a pharmacy as well for all your prescription drug needs. The grocery store is located in a very nice area adjacent to the liquor Mart, Bank of Montreal, RBC, pet value, Lucky duck Chinese as well as co-op gas bar. Great place to shop overall. I love shopping here.
It's not the fault of staff, but the prices at Save on Foods are often ridiculous and it has rapidly gotten worse. I have watched some food items double in price over 2 weeks and then be put on "sale" for slightly less than double. This can be seen in the below picture of the Michelina's pasta, which originally was $2.39.
I included a couple pictures of some chicken salad as an example of their pre-made food prices.
I now only stop in for dog food because for some reason "inflation" doesn't seem to have an impact on dog food prices.
If I could give them zero stars I would. Do NOT support this location. They overcharge drastically compared to every other Starbucks. They have ripped off my young daughters by overcharging them $2 more per drink than any other location.
They say they up charge for things no other location does.
They are taking advantage of young people.
Spread the word. And do not support these shady business practices.
WISH I could rate 0 stars. I’ve been shopping with save on foods for months now. And today my brother in law had the worst experience with the store manager, Shaun Sidhu. He went bought spinach and came home to realize he needed more, we live just across the street so it was a short walk. The second time he came in Shaun approached him and asked if he was in the store the day prior. Brother in law said “no” and Shaun accused him of something very vague and unspecific. Following the accusation he said “do you want to see the video?” After replying “yes” the manager didn’t show him the video and said “get what you’re buying and get out of my store.” Without argument my brother in law left and came home to tell us what happened. We came to confirm the situation and was greeted with a guilty conscience the refused to give proof and claimed over and over that “he has the right to refuse service to anyone.” Arrogant man. Won’t be shopping here again and have sent complaints to headquarters and have contacted Canada human rights for a proper investigation and formal response.
