Nice store but expensive! You don't need a loonie for the cart which is why I occasionally shop there. There's a nice deli section and the produce is better than most. I guess you get what you pay for.

I came before their closing time and they told me they dont sell any cakes after 9. They need a specific baker person to touch cakes. Maybe its a medicine which cant be touched without the dr. But i still got to order through uber. Wow. These are the employees that they have. They wont sell someone in person but will do for uber. I guess for uber order the baker will come and hand it to the uber driver. Just an amazing service. Being more close to loose a loyal customer.

Very bad customer service just now i went to sobeys and at the till self serve payment i left my bag to cross check the price for avocados and the lady working now at this time peep into my bag in my absence i saw it when i cam back and she asked me about the items the 2 items were of dollarama and it items shows the dollarama rate tags still she asked me which is fine i saw her the receipt but its really bad to peep into someone’s bag in their absence horrible customer service by her.

Three strikes and you're out, kiddos, not going to bother with Sobeys again. They put the cheaper bread in the isles so it's separated from the rest of the bakery products so if you don't know the layout of the store you buy they're overpriced stuff instead, frozen foods are expired and/or freezer burned, unless an item is on sale it's dramatically overpriced, and I walked past the meat section January 14th and it reeked of rotten meat. What a disgrace.

Usually over priced on fruits and veggies. Usually go in to buy meat for dinner. I like their ground beef. I usually buy the kids photo cakes for their birthday from here. Their pistachio cannoli wasn’t terrible, but the plan ricotta cannoli was really bad. Eclairs tasted defrosted.

William who works in the area where they serve food is patient. I literally had no clue what I wanted and he suggested I sampled two things and I ended up buying the sweet and sour pork, noodles and buffalo chicken salad. He is so sweet lol cause I kept changing my mind on the items I wanted! 😂 he didn’t flinched or got annoyed! Real customer service right there , thank you! My first time buying and I’ll definitely come back!

I recently visited this Sobeys location with my wife, and we were both very impressed with the helpfulness of the staff. They were readily available and went out of their way to assist us in finding everything on our shopping list. It made our experience much more pleasant and efficient. We'll definitely be returning.

Purchased butter tarts yesterday from your bakery and they were not good. Someone needs training in that department. Tarts were flat and dry and over baked and not appealing. (Safeway bakery on River makes epic soft and fluffy crust butter tarts. Just saying because tarts are supposed to delicious like that. ) Bought them yesterday at approximately 15:30 03.26.25.

Horrible service. Especially at butcher department. Had me wait close to 30 mins saying and actually showing me the sale item(frozen pork belly) I was interested in was in stock and they needed to just change the price to match the flyer. Only for someone else to come out and tell me the item is actually not the one shown in the flyer (how is that possible when they showed it to me already) and they never received it. I'm sure they lied to me just cuz they didn't know how to price match the flyer.

Pretty solid store, customer service is good and the products are usually very reliable except for their compliments chicken breast. Buyer beware, the package may say “5-6 days from now” but it usually spoils before that. Sadly, I’ve had this happen a few times and have brought it back once or twice with receipt. Just sucks when you have company over and invite them for dinner, relying on a product so you just end up ordering pizza 👍🏼 (plus what do to with the other $40 in ingredients for that dish?) would strongly recommend freezing the breasts until you need them as you can’t trust the product 100% of the time. On a positive, the other products in this store are very good and I love the selection of in house made marinated meats, their produce is usually on point and always fresh never spoiled. I love the layout and location, we will see how the next few shops here go as we have been shopping at Safeway down the street but sadly stopped as their “undercover” security team always follows you giving harassment vibes. Maybe they should follow me to the check out where I spend $300-$400? Or I could always wear a suit or tuxedo while shopping. Giving 3 stars out of 5 because of the chicken, it’s just come to that point as it’s been the 4th time now in this situation.

A bit expensive! The prices are a bit much, compared to fresh-co and superstore. A lot of things will be a dollar or 2 more. Its not very common, but I've found expired products on the shelves or fridges dated days or weeks back! Staff is quite friendly, no complaints 😄👍 The new self checkout was a great help!

Well i really do not like giving bad reviews BUT when I buy something from the grocery store I would think it would be fresh anyway I bought a fruit platter From sobeys Northdale location then discovered that the strawberry were rotton so I figured i would call customer service and let them know about my problem I was speaking with Bev I am not sure if she was the manager or what but she was very rude and unprofessional when I told her that the strawberries were cotton she then replied to me saying well why fid you buy them then I then was like well I could not see them maybe I should have replied well why did you sell them then but I could not stoop to her lower level so I returned the platter the next day and whoever I dealt at customer service was nice and exchanged them I asked if Bev was in she was off I wanted to ask her to her face why she feels she can talk to her customers in this manner but oh well it's done with..

I've lived in the area for almost 30 years and have been shopping here since it opened. It was great for years but started going downhill about 2 years ago. The last 3 months have been inexcusable. The only thing more rotten than the staff's attitude is the produce. $5 for lettuce that is brown and only fit for the garbage is outrageous. Lately everything is rotten due to being frozen. Fire the moron in charge of quality control. I've been patient thinking perhaps it was just a shipment that got frozen but this has been going on for months. Yesterday all the produce I bought was compromised resulting in throwing most of it away. I've wasted hundreds of dollars shopping here and I'm done. Pretty despicable when I can buy a fresher orange from 7-11. This store needs a complete overhaul. I am no longer a loyal customer, I'll be going to Superstore.

I regularly visit this shop, but yesterday I've left very disappointed. I've purchased strawberries, one plain yogurt with 50% off sticker, two compliments yogurts with cherries and berries again with 50% off stickers cucumbers, tomatoes eggs and one bar chocolate. I went to the checkout and I was served by Christine. I've paid and left in a hurry to pick up my husband from work. Today, I've decided to complete the survey and I've checked my receipt. I was charged twice for the chocolate bar and instead of 50% off my plain yogurt the checkout lady just discounted me 50 cents. It's a shame that people do that, especially in times like this, when food is so expensive. I use to think Sobeys is one of the high end stores with good customer service and a good selection of local and organic food. I'm so disappointed and I can't even comprehend why someone will do that!? It's not like she didn't see the chocolate bar is just one or the sticker with 50% off are on the 3 items only. Please, be aware, check your receipt before you go out of the store. Update: April 14 I've emailed the customer service and I was advised to go back at the store for a refund. Managment was extremely helpful and polite and issued a full refund for the overcharged items.

Pretty good selection of gluten-free items, if you need that kind of thing. Pretty good hot sauce selection. And they carry Pic-a-Pop now, if you like your sugar water nostalgically themed (as I do). Not uncommon for there to be errors at the till. Staff are generally friendly but not always well-trained. Specials can be good but overall the prices aren't great.

Recently ordered my son's birthday cake, and what a disappointment when we picked it up. We had ordered a white cake, yellow top border, red bottom border with red airbrush at the top only. This is the cake we picked up. When we first ordered the cake, the young gentleman was great, repeated our order and had it perfect. When we went to pick up, the whole cake was red, the writing was terrible. When we said something to the lady, she stated this was the order so we checked the written request and it clearly stated a white cake with red airbrush. She said it was the young mans fault for writing it wrong. Anyways, the cake was delicious and we covered the top with a large cake topper to hide the writing. Lesson learned, call and triple check your order to ensure you get exactly what you ask for.

Ordered a cupcake birthday cake for 6 year old granddaughter - what a disappointment. I said it was for 6 year old girl and how they could decorate - they said flowers , sprinkles and balloons. Requested balloons and sprinkles - picked up cake with no balloons and minimal sprinkles. For a six year old girl - what a sad pathetic cake it was. Asked where the balloons were - she said I hadn’t ordered…it was the least you could do for a six year old girl’s cake. Makes no sense that I wouldn’t order!

I wanted to thank the amazing staff/ management for all there help and concern they provided me recently.I had gone into do an early morning grocery shop before work, as I was going through checkout I realized that I had lost my phone. The staff did everything they could to help me locate it, I left the store not having found it.I had left my contact information with them in case it was found. Later on that day I had a call that it was found! Management took the time to review store surveillance cameras which resulted in the location of my phone. I am truly thankful to the staff for going above and beyond for me… Thank you so kindly.

I just bought an Organic Strawberry this morning, I was about to give the strawberry to my 4 year old kid but when I opened it at home, there were molds in it. You can't see them unless you get them from the packaging because they will hide it in the inner part of the container. Check the pictures I posted. Don't buy from this grocery store

I don’t shop here often but I’ve always been able to find what I need. I feel that this is a higher end grocery store. Their bakery is awesome! They got fresh produce, nice layout, clean and organized store. Staff have always been helpful and friendly.

Nearly everything is over priced compared to Save On Foods or Super Store. While the staff are friendly and helpful they don't seem to be fairly organized or managed. As I was walking through the store I kept finding expired products on the shelves. Very frustrating considering they're inflating their prices on top of selling expired goods and not properly managing stock.

Got falsely accused of stealing by some employee who spoke to me in a rude tone of voice. If there was a sign somewhere in store that bags are not allowed in store , I did not see it or it was not clearly stated! Some suggestions for the owner and manager of this store: 1. Put a sign near the entrance stating "no bags allowed in store" 2. Create a small area where customers can leave their bags while they shop or use the restroom. 3.To be more clear about store policy regarding bags change the restroom sign stating "no merchandise or bags allowed in restroom" 4. This store should provide its own bags to customers near checkout if there is no other reusable bags allowed in store. If this was clearly stated in store , I would have not taken any bags with me. This store should not have to have their employees telling customers not to have bags with them every single time a customer walks in!! just seems unnecessary when other easier methods above can be used. Never shop here with any bag of any sort , unless you want to be labeled as a thief and talked down rudely by employees. I do not recommend anyone shop at this location.

Five star review is based entirely on their chipotle chickens; they are the best chickens in the entire city and an addiction for any week that could be perceived as a 'bad'. No self checkout, a little more pricey than other grocery stores but has decent sales to equal out and lines can get a little long during peak hours, but it's worth it for the chipotle chicken.

My experience of shopping at this store was really terrible because one of the employees named Hayden treated us very rudely. From his behaviour,I felt that he did not like his job as we noticed when we requested him for help, he totally ignored us. Even he was standing free and was gossiping with other colleague.

Im recovering from a broken hip and I use a walker to get around but very difficult and lots of pain. The Staff at the store went above and beyond to help me and one gentleman carried my groceries to my vehicle. I've never experienced customer service like this, absolutely amazing. Just wish I would have got the names of the people that helped me, they definitely deserve recognition. Great job, keep up the good work.

Went to the store other day, self checkout was so dusty literally. Informed someone at customer service about it and expected better and clean next time. Today, again I visited the store again self checkouts so dusty. Person I talked to said “ we do clean them every night “. Like seriously store is open for almost 10-11 hours if something so dusty you guys will wait till closing doesn’t not make sense. Otherwise good experience.

Never been here before, but it is a great store! Lots of selection. Staff were friendly and ready to help me find the items on my list that had illuded me. They have the entrance doors blocked and a security guard is directing you to enter through the exit door, somewhat confusing, and it takes place every night from what staff tell me. Awesome bakery. Lots of parking. I'll certainly return to this store again.

This is by far the worst Sobeys I have ever been to. I can't believe how bad this location is designed, there is absolutely no flow to anything. It's obvious that they designed it so you waste more time walking around. This way you are exposed to more things to buy, so they can make more money. It was extremely busy and they didn't have all their tills open. Self check out had a till that wasn't working. The person who was in charge of the area kept saying it was broken..until someone else came by and fixed it immediately. Wait times were about 10 minutes and stock was limited or completely out in produce. For being this close to the holidays, this level of customer service is totally unacceptable. I will not be shopping here again

Pretty disappointed in the price increase in the Burns Salami at the deli counter. A little over a year ago it was $1.79/100g. It’s now risen to $3.29/100g! It’s basic basic salami. Not fancy by any means. An almost double the price for a salami that is closer to bologna than most of the other salamis in the case.

Simply the best Sobeys in town. Great selection of ready-to-go meals, noodle bar, sushi bar, pizza bar, salad bar, huge cheese selections.... Aesthetically stunning. Super fresh produce and excellent selection of common and not-so-common ethnic foods. Love this place!

Today my spouse and I experienced a delightful day shopping at the unicity location. The staff are always so helpful and actually make it enjoyable spending our time shopping for our groceries. We feel so welcome every time we visit. Never have we had a difficult time finding someone to assist us. I wonder if the managers are the reason the staff always seem so happy to please and regular staff have been working at this location for many years. The best service we have had at any grocery store. Thanks for making our day.

We always stop for groceries at Sobeys when we visit Winnipeg. They have the best Kolbassa sausage! We picked up an excellent ham sausage Kolbassa - see pics. We also stock up on Dad's cookies, Ketchup chips and our favorite chocolate bars (Oh Henry and Eatmore bars).

First time visiting this Sobeys location. It is a nice, big and clean store with wide aisles and enough room to pass other staff and customers. This is one of their bigger locations so the selection is that much better, especially for unique things. The staff here are friendly & knowledgeable and I found what I was looking for with quick checkout service. Recommend to others

Always a nice place to shop :) Very clean and organized with good variety that I can't find at other stores, great deli. I always find something ( that I probably shouldn't buy ) in the bakery :) The checkout process was speedy but do cashiers not even ask if you'd like your items bagged anymore, maybe this is the norm post pandemic, post plastic bag ban? The parking lot was well maintained with someone seemingly always collecting carts.

Also the only sobeys discounting there food so it doesn't all get trashed. Keep up the good work and hopefully the other stores learn a few things from you guys.

There is one older lady that is so rude everytime I come to sobeys during the day (shorter hair grey hair). I went in to get 1 item and went into the express lane (big mistake!) I got scolded because I put a marker infront of my item but not behind. Got charged two times for my 1 item....(can't wait to go through the whole company to get my extra 10 bucks back). Never had an issue with payment before just the attitude with the older lady as per usual. So over coming to this store even though I live down the street.

March 2025: HOLY MOLY, the two older lady cashiers are the most MISERABLE people to be working the front end. PLEASE FOR THE SAKE OF EVERYONE, fire them already!! Those two ladies are the most rudest people I’ve had to deal with, to not only myself but everyone else I’ve witnessed going through their line, I try my hardest to avoid them but during the weekdays, it’s hard, they’re are SO miserable, they completely bring the energy down in Sobeys. Wow!! I cannot wait for another grocery store to open in the area and watch Sobeys completely crumble in Birds Hill. You did it to yourselves. 2021: Oh, weird…. I actually had a whole paragraph written out on here from years ago, somehow I guess they deleted it? Wow! Makes sense, after what they did to my mother to make her cry. Most of the staff here are bullies. Not agreeing with our views during covid….. so badly that one of the ladies who worked customer service (pink streak in her hair) had her father/father in law come into my work during work hours (pet store in the area) and harass/threaten me over my beliefs. I felt so uncomfortable I had to talk to my boss, which was shocked with their behaviour! It’s honestly sad that an adult has to go that low & act out like a child because someone doesn’t fully agree with how they think!! Especially in a workplace!! Most of the employees at Birds Hill Sobeys are miserable & rude to not only myself but lots of others, which you can observe by standing in line. But then again, you wonder why, the management is HORRIBLE! I cannot wait for Birds Hill to bring in another grocery store! Their prices are jacked up compared to any other Sobeys in the city, clearly taking advantage of our small community. What a disappointment in management & most staff!

I can sometimes find bargains in here. The meat is usually more than in Selkirk, but comparative to co-op prices, in Gimli. They have bacon sales, and cheese sales pretty regularly. And, they do have online shopping, where you can get your groceries delivered, I believe on Monday and Thursday. The online does need a bit of an update, and they may run out of items.

What a disgusting plac and careless employees. I bought a package of arugula this past Saturday and didn't open it to use it until today. I was astonished to find a dead frog inside. I immediately went back to Sobys to return this disgusting package and complain about how can they sell such a product without checking it first. There where two costumer service employees at the front desk and when I explained what I found, all they could say is that's so disgusting and called the employee in produce to come to the front. When the produce employee came, the customer service employee advised him of the situation and he smirked and laughed. I was shocked at his reaction, not even an apology from any of them. They then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to get another one or get my money back. I assumed they would do more then just that and what I endured. I told them I want my money back and left immediately. I will never go back to Sobeys again.

I have to start with how much I love Sobeys, This has always been my go to grocery store regardless of location. Especially with the change to Scene points I am loving the new direction. They typically have great managers and that is consistent through every store. Staff is friendly, helpful and willing to make price adjustments with no fuss. The "extra" part of the store is great and I wish all Sobeys transformed to this style. The large Health and Wellness section is great for anyone looking for alternative products you cant find anywhere else. It's clean, organized, quiet and has nice lighting. It's actually mildly relaxing shopping at this location. The produce always looks neat and fresh, their H&R is always stocked up at anytime during the day. They have great deals in the flyer and typically put no limit on discounted items and they rarely sell out. When they have a good sale, they are stocked up, its very appreciated. The only reason this review looses one star is the lack of attention to their meat department, and unfortunately how their seafood department gets away with doing the absolute bare minimum. Unfortunately it's disappointing that a store with so much potential oversees two of what I'd believe is their largest departments. When purchasing seafood, I just don't. I actually pick their frozen selection verse what is offered at the counter ( see pic's below). When visiting other Sobeys locations in Manitoba, I wish this one could match that energy. The photo on the left is from Sobeys Extra, The photo on the right was taken on the same day at another location. I would love to see some love to these 2 departments in the future, With the quality of food Sobeys brings in, its unfortunate how poorly its marketed in store.

Shopping at Sobeys Brandon South was one of the best grocery shopping experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I entered the store, I was greeted by incredibly friendly and helpful staff who made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. It’s clear that the employees take pride in their work, as they went out of their way to make sure I found everything I needed. They offered assistance even before I had to ask, which really stood out to me. What made this trip extra special was how kind the staff were to my 9-month-old daughter. Throughout the store, several employees smiled and interacted with her, which made her day. It made the shopping experience feel truly personal and family-friendly. The store itself was clean, well-organized, and stocked with a wide variety of fresh products. It was easy to navigate, and the checkout process was quick and efficient, which I appreciated. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff at Sobeys Brandon South are top-notch, and their kindness really made my visit memorable. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I must say, as someone who has even a small background in kitchens and proper food handling- watching someone cutting fruit and vegetables on a cutting board they've immediately contaminated by putting the packaging of the said vegetable (broccoli in this case) then continuing to use the same knife to open the package, then cut the vegetable IS NOT SANITARY. These products are supposed to be clean as most people eat them out of the sealed plastic containers without washing, again thinking they're safe because of BEING IN A SEALED CONTAINER- they are most definitely not. I do not think this is proper food handling as this should be taught to the people doing the job because it doesn't seem like they really care too much about contamination. Please do better, Sobeys. It was not nice to witness. @ Sobeys south end location, approximately 5:15pm

Insanely good customer service. I managed to lose one of my earbuds, called them after finding out it was gone and within minutes I had in back in my possession. Extremely thankful to everyone working there.

Went to get some fresh chicken strips from the deli area. I don't know his name but the fellow helped me out and told me how to get the best deal. I have not had this good of service in a grocery store in as long as I can remember. Time of visit: Nov 11, 5pm. This man deserves a raise or something!
