This is a beautiful island park. It has mature trees and lots of picnic tables. There's a very nice play structure in the middle. Very beautiful area yo spend time with family and friends.
Stride Place is by far one of my favorite arenas! The two rinks are well set up, and it's always warm inside, which is a huge plus. The views from the stands are great, making it easy to watch the action on the ice. The dressing rooms are a good size for a team, providing plenty of space to get ready. The entire place is clean and well-maintained.
A special shoutout to the lady who always helps out with the entrance tickets on tournament days—she's fantastic and always makes the experience even better. Highly recommend Stride Place for any hockey event!
As Stride place celebrates its 15 th year I thought I’d share my experience as a new comer to Portage la prairie.
I’m very flustered with the parking at this facility!
The lack of foresight in building a multiplex facility with lack of parking was truly a huge oversight.
On any given Friday to Sunday it is absolutely impossible to find parking. Mostly due to events such as curling and hockey.
I highly recommend that fund raising begin to add a parking garage with a separate entrance to the rink. Or perhaps plan to build separate hockey facility in a different location to eliminate the congestion.
I’m beginning to seriously considering not to renew my membership due to this issue.
I took our children here yesterday for the Public swim time, and I noticed that it appears to have black mould along the stairs up to the slide, as well as substantial rust on the stairs. In addition to that, the water filter inlets in the lazy river were covered with algae/mildew growth which tells me that they’re not being cleaned often enough. I do not have any photos as I did not have my phone on me. The washroom tap in the family change room was also stuck on, and one of the showers were stuck on, so maybe it’s just a lack of maintenance overall. It was our first time going, and I would go again, but would like to see a cleaner.
Person working reception was very friendly and helpful
The place has two hockey arenas. We had a hockey tournament there and it was great! Stride arena has a very comfortable viewing area all around the arena with fan's section. Portage mutual arena has three rows of seats on one side of the arena, but the viewing in from the above which is great.
There is a nice hockey supply store inside.
Canteen was working.
Parking was full and it was not easy to find a spot. In addition it was snowy weekend and the city roads to the place were not cleaned at all which was the only thing that disappointed us.
The Portage Rotary Multi-Purpose Room is a 6,566 square-foot entertaining space for up to 200 people. For smaller events the room can be divided into two smaller rooms with “B” side featuring a kitchenette and a private washroom.
